Lessons learnt from the Dialog Forum with Prof. Agbakoba on some Development Challenges in AfricaThere are no translations available.
For their first dialog forum of the Year 2012, NALDO has invited Prof. Agbakoba Joseph a prominent Nigerian and international Professor of Philosophy in order to discuss on African development challenges. The discussion started with some clarification on the nature of the development concept itself. Stephane Ngalamo, one of the participants, openly asserts his aversion to this term which he conceive as a melting-pot concept and prefer the use of the term “empowerment”. For Alexander Songoro, the problem of development does not rely on its conceptualization but from its implementation. The Tanzanian student argues that the different views on development are not so bad as it is sometimes presented but that the great challenge lies by its failure of implementation and that development should be positive to the people it is destined for. Every society should define its development strategy.
Kuate Kamga, a student of financial economics sees development as being a dynamic concept which could be applicable to all countries and which embeds the progress perspective of a nation or a community.
